Primary

The Democratic/Republican Primary Election is Tuesday, August 9th, 2022. You must be registered as a Democrat/Republican to vote in your party's primary election. To verify your registration and party, visit here. Connecticut is a closed primary state, therefore unaffiliated voters are not permitted to vote at these primaries. 

 

All registered voters can vote in the General Election on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022. 

 

If you are registered to vote in Redding, CT, your polling place is the Redding Community Center. Polls are open from 6 AM to 8 PM. If you are in line at 8 PM, you will be permitted to vote.

 

To vote on August 9th, 2022, the deadline transfer from one party to another is May 9th 2022. The Deadline to register or change your affiliation from unaffiliated to a party in person is Tuesday, August 8, 2022 at 12 PM. Mail-in registration and party change applications must be postmarked Tuesday, August 4th, 2022. The deadline to register and change your party via the Online Registration System is Tuesday, August 4th, 2022 at 11:59 PM. For more information on how to register to vote, visit here.

 

Election Day Registration is not available for Primary Elections. If you miss the deadline to register, you cannot vote in the Primary Election.

General Election

The next election is Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

 

If you are registered to vote in Redding, CT, your polling place is the Redding Community Center. Polls are open from 6 AM to 8 PM. If you are in line at 8 PM, you will be permitted to vote.

 

To vote on November 8, 2022, the deadline to register in person is Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 8 PM. Exceptions to this deadline (known as Limited Registration) are listed below. Mail-in registration applications must be postmarked Tuesday, November 1, 2022. The deadline to register via the Online Registration System is Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 11:59 PM. If you moved to Redding, CT from November 2 to November 8, 2022, contact the Registrar of Voters to register.

If you turned 18 years of age from November 2 to November 8, 2022, contact the Registrar of Voters to register.

If you became a U.S. citizen from November 2 to November 8, 2022, contact the Registrar of Voters to register.

If you missed the deadline to register and do not meet one of the above criteria, but you are a bona fide resident of the town, you can register to vote on Election Day at Town Hall at 100 Hill Rd, Redding, CT by 8 PM. However, you must complete an application, provide proof of identification and be approved to vote by the Registrar of Voters. For additional information on what documentation you will need to provide, visit here. If you will be registering on Election Day, you are strongly advised to contact the Registrar of Voters as soon as possible! You will only be able to vote if you are approved by the Registrar of Voters. For primaries and special elections, there is no Election Day Registration.
