About the Redding Registrar of Voters Office

The Office of the Registrar of Voters is governed by Connecticut State Statutes and is a vital department to the function of the town’s government. The Office is governed by Connecticut General Statutes and financially supported by the Municipality. 

 

The primary duties of the Registrars are to:

  • register new voters

  • maintain voter registration records and enrollment records

  • publish lists of eligible voters

  • conduct a state-required yearly canvass of all voters

  • compile monthly reports of all activities concerning voters in town

  • administer and oversee all town meetings, elections, primaries and referenda in an accurate and impartial manner 

  • hire and train poll workers

  • maintain all voting equipment used for elections

Registering to vote is a quick and efficient process.

5.     Military & Overseas Voters

Except for limited circumstances, Military and Overseas voters are considered “absentee voters” and must apply for an absentee ballot annually for each primary and election.

6.     I forgot to register. Can I still vote? 

If all voter registration deadlines have been missed, a bona fide resident of the town of Redding may register to vote and cast a ballot at general elections in November only. Election Day Registration is held in the Registrar’s Office at Town Hall (100 Hill Road). Note: for primaries and special elections there is no Election Day Registration.
